Phase Three - Spring and Summer 2009
| In this part of the project, work concentrated on finishing the sign project, which was completed in conjunction with the Wooden Sign Company of Chicago. We couldn't be more excited about the quality of the product or the impact it's going to have on campus. We also redid the old garden in front of our sign with pavers, graded and put in new sod on the lawn around our sidewalk and in front of our portals, and spruced up the basement. Additionally, we installed a great home theater system in the living room, including a 52" flatscree, Blu-Ray, and surround sound (with speakers on the basketball court, too). | |

Phase Two - Summer 2008 | |
| As discussed at the 2007 and early 2008 Board Meetings, the second phase of the Chapter House Renovation Project was approved and broke ground in summer '08. The budget allows for work in the alleys, new hardwood flooring in the foyer & dining room, new ceramic tiles in the portals, and remodeling of the Beta Chi bathroom/laundry area. Later in '08 or early '09, we've budgeted for a new sign. Jointly with Sig Eps, pavers were installed in the alley to the south of the house as seen below. Work continues with Gorski Reifsteck and their craftsmen to make this a solution to a troublesome eyesore that in the past has facilitated flooding. | |

Phase One Completion - August 14, 2007
| Dana Korneman, construction manager for Gorski Reifsteck, sent the following email to Dean Marinakis '90: ...They [our roofing contractor]are complete with the sloped roof, the EPDM flat roofs, the porch roofs, and decks. They are also complete with the new gutter hangers, but have not invoiced for them yet. They are complete with then new ceiling tile in the kitchen. They have graded and reseeded the lawn. They still have to finish the dormer siding and some misc. sheet metal work at the scupper collectors and downspouts. They still need to patch and repair some ceiling damage in the front sun room, and do some more on the lawn. | |
Nearing Completion - August 8, 2007
| Dana Korneman, construction manager for Gorski Reifsteck, sent the following images and email to Dean Marinakis '90: Things are coming along well. The sloped roof is all done. The back deck roof over the kitchen is complete. The new tile is installed in the kitchen ceiling. The ceiling looks great. The front deck "rubber" roof is nearly complete, and work has started on the deck. We had a bit of leakage on the front deck roof this weekend, the rubber roof was in place but was not complete all the way up the parapet wall, and some rain must have worked its way down to the ceiling below. Additionally, the temporary supports the contractor installed to shore up the ceiling while working above, resulted in some paint/plaster failures. The roofing contractor will repair and repaint the ceiling as required. The rubber roof is not fully secured and leak tight. The gutter hangers should start tomorrow, and fixing the lawn should start tomorrow also. With some luck, we should wrap up all the roof and gutter work this week. The siding for the dormers is on order, but may not be delivered for a week or two. We will install it when it arrives. On the whole, the job has gone pretty well, and I'm looking forward to finishing up. Thanks for your support. | |
Roof Demolition - July 20, 2007
| Mr. Korneman of Gorski Reifsteck sent the following images and email to Dean Marinakis '90: Rain stopped after two days, and we're back to work. See attached. Picture 887 [top] was at about 8:45am this morning and picture 001 [bottom] was at about 11:30, talk about progress! They will be putting on the new sheathing this afternoon. Also working all day tomorrow (Saturday). Will be starting on the deck over the kitchen next week, providing we can get 3 or 4 days in a row of good weather, and following with the front deck. | |
