Dear Brothers,
It is my pleasure to write you as we continue our celebration of the Omicron’s centennial year. After sponsoring a successful International Convention in Champaign, we are excited to be hosting the 2010 Homecoming festivities at the Psi Upsilon chapter house. This year, the pledge classes of 1990, 1990.5, 2000, and 2000.5 will receive special recognition in honor of the twenty and ten year reunions, respectively. We hope that all members of these classes, as well as the rest of the fraternity, family members, and guests will join us at the curved house for the annual celebration.
The Homecoming celebration will kick off Friday, October 22, with our traditional Kam’s happy hour followed by a welcome reception at the Psi U house. On Saturday morning, please join us for a complimentary breakfast for our dues-paying members and their guests and the Fall meeting of the Omicron Alumni Association, followed by the big event: our own Fighting Illini facing off against the Indiana Hoosiers. The game time is 11am. The Alumni Association has purchased a block of tickets for the big game, so everyone will have a seat, and we’ll all be able to sit together. Tickets are available at $50 each for Omicron brothers and their guests.
Following the game, we’ll all head back to the Psi U house to enjoy the rest of the day’s games on the house’s big screen television and surround sound system. As the games come to a close, we will conduct the annual Omicron Chapter Awards Presentation as detailed in the schedule.
After the ceremony, dues-paying members and their guests will be treated to a complimentary barbecue prepared on the brand new Centennial Grill and enjoyed in our newly landscaped basketball court/patio area. These improvements represent the fruits of generous alumni donations on a yearly basis as well the undergraduate brothers’ continuing diligent efforts in meeting their rush targets under the terms of the Paid Positions & Incentive Program. 2010 was the second year in a row with a huge pledge class of quality gentlemen, and we are looking for a 3-peat with Fall 2011 rush underway. The Centennial Grill and basketball court/patio area are truly a campus jewel, and a genuine must-see. Please join us as we get back to our grilling roots with the barbecue and in congratulating the undergraduates on their outstanding recruitment efforts. Now more than ever we need your annual support.
The celebration will continue late into the night with an after-hours party hosted by the undergrads.
Whether or not you plan to party until the early hours of Sunday morning, if you need a place to stay in Urbana-Champaign, there is a block of rooms available at the Hawthorn Suites, located at 101 Trade Center Drive, in Champaign. For reservations, call the hotel at 217.398.3400 and request the block under Bret Coale, or feel free contact me to make arrangements. There is a limited number of rooms available, and any rooms that remain in the block will be released on September 22, so please make reservations early.
Please let us know you will be attending by completing and returning the attached order forms. Also, please note that while all are welcome and encouraged to come celebrate throughout the weekend, we have to limit the availability of complementary food and drink to members who have paid their annual dues and their guests. 11:00am Your Fighting Illini take on the Indiana Hoosiers for the University of Illinois’ 100th Homecoming game at Memorial Stadium.
A limited number of tickets (seated together) can be purchased for $50 each, through advance purchase only. Tickets will be available on a first-come, first-served basis with a deadline of October 1st, or while supplies last. Please use the enclosed form. Tickets will be distributed at the chapter house before the game.
3:00 – 4:00pm Cocktail reception & Open Rooms at the Psi U chapter house
Undergraduates will be present; all are welcome to tour the chapter house, visit their old rooms, and hang out with the undergraduate members.
4:00 – 4:30pm Awards Presentation at the Psi U chapter house
Centennial Celebration Ceremony; Ceremony and activities honoring our members from the 1990, 1990.5, 2000 & 2000.5 pledge classes; Awards Presentation honoring outstanding undergraduate and alumni achievement; Announcement of the 2010 Scholarship Grant Program winners and presentation of scholarship checks.
4:30 – 6:00pm Complimentary BBQ at the Psi U house for dues-paying members
Our food service, Campus Cooks, will be cooking a barbecue dinner for dues-paying Psi U brothers and their families/guests. The meal will be prepared using our new grill. Reservations must be received by October 1st; please use the enclosed form.
9:34pm – 4:00am Party at the Psi U chapter house hosted by the undergraduates
