Psi U Lady

A while back when researching for the 2009 Centennial Print, Brother Dave Komie '92.5 had the good fortune to talk with Brother Gene McCarthy '49. He mentioned that the Omicron used to sing a song entitled "Psi U Lady" when serenading sororities after a pinning and that it was written by a Brother Morgan Jones '57. As the chapter didn't sing it from at least the 1980s forward, nothing was known of its whereabouts, and we had no contact information with Brother Jones to get the backstory.

Well no more than a few weeks later, Brother Jones contacted Archon Paul Palamattam out of the blue via email:
I'm 77 years old and living in retirement in Santa Fe, NM Does the Chapter still sing "Psi U Lady"?  It was written and composed by my mother, Cordelia Jones, around 1951. A little bio: I was Chapter president my last semester at the university, class of 1957.  I interrupted my college education with three years in the Army.  I spent my professional career in CIA--36 years. In the Bonds, Morgan

Since then, Brothers Palamattam and Komie have had a nice correspondence with Brother Jones, and he was kind enough to send along the original sheet music for the song. It was actually written by his mother, who has the copyright. Many thanks to Brother Jones for passing along the song, which we hope gets to more good use down in Champaign!
If you're musical take a shot:
When a Psi U serenades his sweetheart
in her heart he longs to be
Wants her for his own
True to him a-lone
Sings to her this simple melody
Psi U Lady
Girl of my dreams
Your enchantment like moonlight gleams
When you're near me, my heart's a-glow
Your eyes tell me
Never to let you go
Psi U sweetheart
Queen of them all
Your voice whispers
I hear you call
Your charms endear me
Say that you hear me
Sigh for you
Psi U Lady!
